TimeR is a small FileMaker database to capture all of your working time. This tool is not about billing hours to your clients, but about capturing all of your personal working time. This includes things like marketing, bookkeeping, and the like.

There can be many reasons to measure your working time. Use it as feedback for your own time investment, or as a tool for reporting to the authorities. This is especially helpful if you work on projects you do not directly bill to your clients and need proof of the time you invested for your business. Gain insight and give insight. When is this tool helpful?

Creating a reliable set of data has its perks.

  • In the Netherlands, tax authorities grant deductions for your company, if you work at least a certain number of hours per calendar year. You must be able to prove this.

TimeR functionality

It works like this: TimeR uses a table to record time spans. One starts and stops each such time span and assigns a project and, optionally, more details. This information is kept in the table and then can be sorted and selected according to diverse criteria. From the result, it is now easy to create a report in various ways.

Integrate TimeR as an addon

TimeR has been developed as a tiny little tool. However, it is well possible to integrate it into any other solution if you desire so. It’s simple! Under Settings, you find a button leading you to a configuration page for addons. There is a button to instantly create an addon package. You also could opt to use a solution like our “AddOn Lab FREE” to create an addon from the TimeR file.

Would it be possible to enhance this file?

Of course. You get a regular and open FileMaker file. It is yours. Do with it what you like. You can edit, change, and enhance this solution to your liking. Basic functionality is implemented already. Now make it yours.

Think of:

  • Integrate with your solution (tip: create an addon from this file, and you’ll be up and running in minutes).
  • Make it multi-user-compatible.

The basic setup of this file is deliberately simple. That is to make it easy for you to enhance its functionality.
