Course

In the course you will learn what it takes to develop and manage your own FileMaker add-ons. Claris has revealed little information so far. In this course, the available information is compiled and explained step-by-step using examples. This is the best and fastest way to enter the world of FileMaker add-ons. The course is in German. There are English subtitles. Sample files and the solution “Add-On Lab PRO” are in English.

Software

The course includes the FileMaker solution “Add-On Lab PRO”. With Add-On Lab PRO 3 things are made possible:

1. Create add-ons from other files
2. Edit add-on files
3. Manage add-ons

The software will be explained in detail in the course and used for the corresponding tasks.

FileMaker Add-ons

In the current version of FileMaker it is possible to export files as “add-ons”. An add-on package consists of a folder with data that is stored in a specific location of the FileMaker installation. After restarting FileMaker, the new add-on will be recognized and you can insert it into another file with a few clicks. Add-ons are intended as building blocks for a FileMaker development. Anyone can also create such building blocks themselves to make their own work easier. This course is a quick start with proven methods for add-on creation.
